11 Companies and Products Apple has killed, made irrelevant.

11. Flip Video Company

R.I.P. 2011

The Flip Video camcorder, produced by Pure Digital Technologies, gained popularity as a compact and user-friendly device for capturing videos. However, with the integration of high-quality cameras in smartphones, particularly Apple’s iPhone, standalone pocket camcorders like the Flip Video became less relevant. The iPhone’s built-in camera provided a convenient all-in-one solution for capturing both photos and videos, eliminating the need for a separate device. The rise of social media platforms and the ease of sharing videos directly from smartphones further diminished the demand for dedicated camcorders. Cisco Systems, which acquired Pure Digital Technologies in 2009, eventually discontinued the Flip Video line due to declining sales.
